PRIORY HOUSE The oldest part of Priory House, the vaulted undercroft, and the exhibition room above it, is a typical two-storey Norman stone house of the late 12th century, according to the architectural historians. Intriguingly, though there are various theories about it, no record has been found of who built it, or for what purpose, but it is one of the oldest buildings in the county. PRIORY GARDENS Priory Gardens are situated adjacent to the Priory Church of St. Peter and Priory House. The Gardens form part of a Scheduled Ancient Monument and the area has a rich and varied history. AIM OF THE FRIENDS The aim of the Friends is to support, promote and fund raise for this unique Grade II listed building and its beautiful surroundings. You can become involved in many ways from becoming an active member of the committee to volunteering to help with activities and workshops, or to assist in organising fundraising events, or even to help with projects and planting in the gardens. You can even participate by simply making regular financial contributions.
